After announcing its new flagship smartphone in the India market, Sony has today announced the launch of its mid-range smartphone, the Xperia XA1. Successor to last year’s Xperia XA, the new XA1 was announced at MWC (Mobile World Congress) in Barcelona this year.
The Xperia XA1 is now available for buying from across all Sony Centers and major electronic sores across the country in the colours White, Black and Pink, the company announced on Tuesday. Interestingly, Tuesday is also the day that the Xperia XZs goes on sale in the country.
The Xperia XA1, as mentioned earlier, is a mid-tier phone with mid-tier specs and a near all-polycarbonate body. The front is occupied by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 while the outer frame is carved out of aluminum. The phone comes with Sony's characteristic silver round power button on the right as also a dedicated camera shutter key. It does now however get a fingerprint scanner.
The Xperia XA1 comes with a 5-inch 720p screen and a 2.3GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P20 processor clubbed with 3 gigs of RAM and 32GB of internal memory which is further expandable via a dedicated micro-SD card slot. The dual-SIM phone runs Android Nougat and supports 4G LTE (also VoLTE). It further comes with USB Type-C for charging and data syncing.
On the camera front, the XA1 comes with a 23-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, phase detection and laser autofocus and LED flash. On the front, it comes with an 8-megapixel wide-angle lens. Both the shooters are capable of recording 1080p videos.
It also supports what Sony calls as adaptive charging. The Xperia XA1 uses intelligent charging to prevent battery decline, according to the company. It learns your charging patterns and adapts to them, resulting in up to twice the battery lifespan, it claims.
The phone is backed by a 2,300mAh battery and supports fast charging. It also ships with a Quick Charger UCH-12 in the box.
