HTC U (Ocean) smartphone with ‘Edge Sense’ feature to launch next month: Report




HTC  early this year said that they will announce three brand new smartphones by the end of Quarter 1. Well, just to recall back the  Taiwanese-based company has already announced two phones out of the three listed, the HTC U Ultra and HTC U Play and has started working on the third one.

If the recent reports surfacing the web are to be believed, HTC with its third phone this Quarter, is going to further strengthen its U series. HTC is reportedly working on the third U series smartphone, codename HTC U. Well, other speculations making rounds on the internet predicts the third HTC phone to be the HTC Ocean. No confirmation by the company on the name yet.

Ahead of the launch, several speculations about the rumoured HTC U or HTC Ocean has been making rounds on the internet, giving a rough picture of how the device is going to be, alongside its specifications and more. The HTC U or HTC Ocean is expected to boast touch-sensitive frame, which will be called Edge Sense. By introducing this feature, HTC will allow the users to control actions with gestures.

The report also claims that HTC U (Ocean) will feature a 5.5-inch WQHD display of 1440x2560 pixel resolution. It will run Android 7.0 Nougat operating system and have a 12MP rear camera with Sony IMX362 sensor. A 16MP front-facing camera with IMX351 sensor is also expected. The smartphone is likely to have 64GB/128GB of internal storage, with support for microSD cards.


Some earlier leaks have suggested that the device will offer 4GB of RAM and have Daydream support. Along with this, the smartphone will have HTC's Sense Companion AI and USB Type-C charging port.


Last month, HTC launched its U Ultra and U Play smartphones in India. While the U Ultra is priced at Rs 59,990, the U Play sports a price tag of Rs 39,990.
The key highlight of the smartphones is Sense Companion, HTC's AI-based assistant.


HTC's Sense Companion is similar to the likes of Google Assistant and Apple Siri. According to the company, the AI assistant learns users' working patterns and optimizes the device accordingly.
