Reliance Jio laptop with 4G SIM slot, Apple MacBook-like design on the way

Reliance Jio’s competitive pricing has already disrupted the telecom sector. But it looks like the company is far from done. After a very dramatic run in the industry with its low priced 4G services, Reliance Jio is now reportedly venturing into the laptop segment.

The company is working on a new Jio-powered laptop similar to Apple’s 13.30inch MacBook Air (design-wise). On the specifications front, the new Reliance Jio laptop is rumoured to pack 13.3-inches full-HD display with 16:9 aspect ratio, 4G support and HD camera for video calling. Moreover, the device is expected to feature a magnesium alloy body and not have a cooling fan.

The laptop will most probably be powered by a quad-core Intel Premium processor with 4GB RAM, 128GB SSD and 64GB eMMC storage along with it. On the connectivity front, the laptop will pack 4G, LTE, Bluetooth, HDMI port, 2 USB ports and a micro SD card slot.

While a 4G laptop will be a first for India, it’s not really a new thing. Last year in December, Xiaomi launched the Mi Notebook Air 4G laptop with 4G connectivity, which included Cat.4 4G LTE support capable of delivering download speeds up to 150Mbps. Xiaomi had tied up with China Mobile to offer 4GB data per month with the new laptop, so if the Jio laptop comes true, get ready for such offers.
