Chinese smartphone maker Meizu has announced the m5 smartphone in India. Announced in China back in October, the M5 is a budget offering and is priced at Rs 10,499.
The smartphone was announced in two variants, 2 GB RAM with 16 GB of storage for 699 Yuan (around Rs 7,000) and 3 GB RAM with 32 GB storage priced at 899 Yuan (around Rs. 9,000 approx). The 3GB RAM, 32 GB storage variant has made its way to India.
Successor to the M3, the smartphone features a 5.2-inch HD display (1280×720) with a 2.5D curved glass. Powering the device is a MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor paired with a Mali T860MP2 GPU. Storage is expandable up to 128 GB as the smartphone comes with a hybrid SIM card slot.
In the camera department, you get a 13 MP rear camera with a dual-tone LED flash, phase detection auto-focus and f/2.2 aperture 5P Lens. At the front there is a 5 MP camera with f/2.0 aperture 4P lens for taking selfies. The rest of the features include a fingerprint sensor embedded in the home button, which promises to read fingerprints in under 0.2 seconds. The smartphone runs on Yun OS, a Linux distribution that is based on Android, with Flyme OS 5.5 UI on top. There is a 3,070mAh battery to juice up the smartphone which is claimed to deliver 66 hours of music playback. Connectivity features of the smartphone include 4G LTE and VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS/A-GPS support.
Commenting on the launch of Meizu M5, Leon Zhang, Meizu Marketing Head, South Asia said, "We had launched M5 in China market a few months ago and within a short span of time, this particular model bought various accolades for Meizu's M series. This overwhelming response further inspired us to introduce this device in Indian market which evidently is one of the key markets for Meizu."
The Meizu M5 will be available exclusively on TataCliq in Blue and Champagne Gold colour variants.
